  • A hospital in California is looking for an experienced MedSurg/Tele nurse for a travel contract.
  • MedSurg &Tele (This is a mixed unit)
    • Job Requirements
    • The right candidate will have 2 full years of experience.
    • Hold active BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications.
    • An active CA License.
      • Schedule Information
      • Shifts are 12's 7 - 7:30. Very strict regarding attendance.
      • AM huddle.
      • Block scheduling is not guaranteed.
      • Weekend Requirement: 4 shifts out of 4-week schedule with specific requirements for night and day shifts.
        • Unit Specific Information
        • 39 Beds (37 private rooms & 1 semi private room)
        • Ratios: 1 to 4 tele patients; 1 to 5 MedSurg patients but could be assigned a mix
        • Floating: Travelers are the 1st to float between MSW & MHB under the same license.
          • Additional Details
          • ACLS, BLS, NIHSS;**CERNER REQUIRED**
          • EMR: Cerner experience preferred.
          • Make sure to ask if they already have Cerner experience & if so, was this recent?
          • They can comp test out of Cerner training.
          • Charge Nurse is present 24/7.
          • CNAs based on the census.
          • Scrub Color: Navy blue.
          • Tele: Phillips *Must be able to read & interpret all cardiac rhythms
          • Vents: Cpap or Bipap (per RT)
          • Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Yes - on call after hours
          • IV Team: No
          • RT 24/7: Yes
          • Pharmacy 24/7: Yes & Omnicell
          • Common diagnoses / Types of patients: General MedSurg patients including bariatrics & all total joints, CVA patients, a-fib, amiodarone, ETOH withdrawal, etc.
          • Additional Notes: Warm welcoming staff, mixed unit challenges, fast paced, busy, high turnover.
